Day 1 – arrival to Budapest
You will be met and transferred by Travel Croatia representative to your hotel. Start your Budapest tour. The rich history of Pest has created a city that’s a puzzle of Baroque, classical, and modern architecture. On our walking tour this morning, we’ll crane our necks beside Europe’s largest parliament building, and learn how Hungarians coped with half a century of fascist and communist tyranny. This afternoon you’ll be free to wander through the Great Market Hall — an architectural gem and the city’s largest indoor market — and treat your senses to a few paprika-infused delicacies. End your day on a relaxing cruise on the Danube. (D)
Day 2 – Budapest
Today we’ll focus on the Buda side of the Danube, starting with a funicular ride up the steep Castle Hill for bird’s-eye views of sprawling Pest, and a walking tour that takes us past the imposing Royal Palace and into Budapest’s greatest church, the sumptuously-gilded Matthias Church. When we’ve finished here, your guide will be happy to arrange, for those who are interested, a chance to soak in the ornate and traditional public Thermal Baths. Dine at the end of the day at your hotel. (B, D)
Day 3 – Szentendre
After breakfast, we will explore the small town of Szentendre, which is known for its art and well-preserved character. We will explore the highlights of this beautiful city which includes the Hero Square, Budapest Opera House and the great view from the Castle District after which we will enjoy a dinner cruise on the Danube, viewing this beautiful city by night. In the evening hours we will return to Budapest to our hotel and enjoy a free evening to explore Budapest. (B)
Day 4 – through Lake Balaton to Ljubljana
Going on a drive near Balaton lake on the way to Slovenia. Continue towards Ljubljana. We arrive to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, and after check-in, we will go for a walk tour. Enjoy the sights of the old city center, including the picturesque open-air Central Market, Three Bridges, Baroque Town Hall, and Robba Fountain. Dinner and overnight in Ljubljana. (B, D)
Day 5 – to Bled
A sightseeing tour of Bled features a charming town, a lakeshore, and a visit to the imposing Bled Castle, perched on a cliff high above the lake. We will join an excursion to the small island in the middle of the lake Bled. The end of the day is at leisure. (B)
Day 6 – Postojna Cave and Opatija
Postojna is home to one of the largest caves in Europe. Tour this fantastic subterranean world by miniature electric train. After the morning at Postojna Cave, drive to the coast to the popular royalty resort, Opatija. Dinner and overnight in Opatija. (B, D)
Day 7 – Zagreb
After breakfast, we continue our way through Croatia. Our first stop is the capital of Croatia, Zagreb. This morning, enjoy a city tour featuring the historic Upper Town, St Mark’s Church, St. Catherine’s Church, the Cathedral, the Parliament, and the Government Palace. The rest of the day is free to explore the winding streets of the Old Town, relax in a café for the rest of the morning and in the afternoon hours we continue our way to Plitvice Lakes National Park. Balance the day with dinner at your hotel. (B, D)
Day 8 – Plitvice Lakes National Park
Have your camera ready as you take a walking tour around several of the lower lakes. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of this natural wonder of 16 terraced lakes surrounded by thickly wooded mountains and lush vegetation. Dinner at your hotel with your Travel Croatia fellow travellers is a great way to end the day. Relax after dinner and enjoy the green forest and beautiful nature. (B, D)
Day 9 – to Zadar
After breakfast we drive down to Zadar. We will spend the morning sightseeing in Zadar, a city of exceptional history and rich cultural heritage. Zadar is a city monument, surrounded by historical ramparts, a treasury of the archaeological and monumental riches of ancient and medieval times, Renaissance and many contemporary architectural achievements such as the first Sea Organs. Drive to your hotel in Split in the late afternoon, overnight and dinner. (B, D)
Day 10 – Šibenik and Krka Waterfalls National Park
The central church in Šibenik, the Cathedral of St. James, is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. After free time for exploring Šibenik, we head to NP Krka. Walking tour with a guide goes around several parts of this natural wonder with Skradinski buk and Roški slap waterfalls, Visovac island and monastery. Dinner at your hotel on the end of this lovely day with Travel Croatia. (B, D)
Day 11 – Split and Trogir
Spend the morning on a city tour of Split. Enjoy the sightseeing featuring the historic inner city, built around the Roman Emperor Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. Then see the remnants of Split’s Roman heritage, its Renaissance and Gothic structures, Jupiter’s Temple, the Peristyle and the Cathedral.. Afternoon is saved for Trogir, the center of artistic activities. Scholars from around the world gather here to study and paint. Little labyrinth of an island, town of lucky moment and Greek God Kairos, is completely UNESCO protected, which you will understand as soon as you see the town. Enjoy free time to wander through Trogir. Return to your hotel for overnight and dinner. (B, D)
Day 12 – Dubrovnik
Drive to Dubrovnik after breakfast, with an optional stop in Ston to see the Ston walls and try local speciality, the aphrodisiac oyster from Ston. Accommodate yourself in a hotel and enjoy some free time to explore Dubrovnik after dinner. (B, D)
Day 13 – Dubrovnik
Walking tour of Old Dubrovnik starts after breakfast. Visit the Rector’s Palace, and see the Bell Tower Clock, Orlando’s Column, Sponza palace, the Dominican monastery, and Franciscan monastery with its pharmacy, one of the oldest in the world. The rest of the day is at leisure, enjoy wandering through the town streets and exploring the town gastronomy. Enjoy your day off in this Adriatic pearl. Day 14 – Travel Croatia Homeward Journey
