Taste Dalmatia – Visit Ston, Enjoy Wine and Oyster Tasting
Sumartin on Brač Island is a picturesque little town, known as the youngest inhabited town on the island of Brač. It was established in the 17th century and it differs quite a lot from other places on Brač by speech, mentality and some of the customs. The whole atmosphere will amaze you with its serenity and architectural beauty. Make the most of your visit by exploring the old town and getting a better insight into the traditional Dalmatian life. The journey continues to the south, all the way to Ston. This place is extensively known for three major things: very well-preserved China-like walls, saltworks and tasteful oysters. Being the longest defensive system in Europe, the Walls of Stone are rightfully referred to as the “European Walls of China”. Renovated and opened for visitor all year round, this unique construction attracts visitors from all over the world. While here, let us take you to the famous saltworks in Ston and allow you to experience personally what it feels like to harvest salt from the sea. The tasting od specific sorts of wine and local oysters is another highlight of this tour. This experience will awaken all your taste buds and make the memory of your visit eternal. Next stop is Sućuraj, a small picturesque fisherman village located on the eastern end of Hvar Island that attracts visitors with beautiful architecture and a turbulent history. Locals are experts in fishing and olive oil production so they might let you in on their little secrets while you’re there. Enjoy sunbathing and swimming in the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea away from the hustle and bustle of larger cities. Continue indulging in all those classic summer activities in the famous Lovrečina Bay. This is an amazing large sandy beach situated in a cove on the northern part of the island of Brač, between Postira and Pučišće, known for its beautiful swimming area and unique archeological sites nearby. This is the perfect spot to swim, snorkel, lounge on the sandy beach or even learn how to play the famous local game known as Picigin. If you see locals playing it, ask them to jump in – they’ll be delighted to have another player.
